Sit Down

I’ve spoken about Irish designer Eileen Gray here before. Saw the extensive exhibition of her life’s work in Collins Barracks a few times. Bought a huge book of her work in Prague, of all places, last year.

Then this morning:

has sold for €22m.

One chair, even if it is one of her most beautiful…

Admittedly it used to belong to Yves Saint Laurent which probably pushed the price up a bit.

I’d just like to sit in it for a bit.

  1. I have a scary obsession with chair design, I spent half my holiday in helsinki looking at chairs. Although predictably, the Eames rocker is actually my favourite 🙂
