I used to work in Argos when I was a student. When on till the punters came to you with their slip of paper with catalogue numbers written on them. Because they sometimes transcribed the number incorrectly we had to read the name of each product and the price as we were entering them. This resulted in me taking a docket, keying in the numbers and (without thinking) asking, in a somewhat inquisitive tone…
